Insufficient compute/storage resources Error message while on-boarding the VNF via TCA 2.1

Updated: Aug 8, 2022

Symptoms-

While On-boarding VNF with Nokia VNF manager i.e CBAM rather than regular TCA’s generic VNF manager on TCA 2.1 GUI, you may encounter the following error during VNF instantiation:

Click on the Failed status to view the cause of failure

Despite of abundant amount of cpu/memory available and unlimited storage assigned in VCD to that particular Organisation VDC it shows above error; To verify the issue, you can grab the full exception from the TCA-CP app.log via TCA-CP CLI (Location: /common/logs/admin/app.log) which indicates datastores cannot be used for placement or datastores do not have capacity. Also check in vCenter server if you are using datastore clusters for storage.

Probable Causes of failure-

This is simply because TCA does not support datastore clusters.

Resolution-

  1. Create a local datastore in vCenter server.

  2. create storage profile accordingly.

  3. import it to VMware vCloud Director.

  4. Then try on-boarding the VNF again.

OR

Use VSAN storage
